Martin County Courthouse and Constitutional Office Building – Stuart, FL

HVAC and Buildings Envelope Forensic Services
Client: Martin County Board of County Commissioners
Investigation, diagnosis, design of corrections, construction and commissioning of a $22+ million problem at the Martin County Courthouse and Constitutional Office Building. This 100,000 square-foot facility was evacuated in 1992 because of problems relating to moisture and microbial contamination.

Polk County Courthouse – Bartow, FL

A 500,000 square‐foot Polk County, FL complex where duties included (1) preparation of specifications, (2) bid analysis, (3) coordination with allied consultants, and (4) onsite monitoring of remediation activities, which included microbial air sampling, direct microscopy examination of air and bulk samples, and assessment/interpretation of analytical laboratory results. Litigation support was also provided for the project.

Palm Beach County Judicial Complex – West Palm Beach , FL

HVAC and Building Envelope Forensic Services

Completed investigation and diagnosis of a rainwater leakage problem to this facility. After tropical storm Gordon this facility required delineation of damaged areas and remediation of the microbial contaminated areas. Additionally, commissioning of the HVAC system was completed, including detailed pressure mapping to determine if any areas were operating in a manner conducive to moisture and mold problems.

Orange County Courthouse – Orlando, FL

Diagnosis and commissioning of building envelope and HVAC system corrections to the Orange County Courthouse. State-of-the-art commissioning techniques were utilized to pin-point areas that the HVAC system was resulting in problems.

Air Force Base – Polk County, FL

Performed mold and water damage assessment caused by 2004 hurricane activity.
This project was a 500,000 square‐foot Polk County, FL complex where duties included (1) preparation of specifications, (2) bid analysis, (3) coordination with allied consultants, and (4) onsite monitoring of remediation activities, which included microbial air sampling, direct microscopy examination of air and bulk samples, and assessment/interpretation of analytical laboratory results. Litigation support was also provided for the project. Damage was caused by tidal surges, flooding and wind driven rain. Building types investigated included base housing, base dormitories, office structures, industrial buildings and a fire station. In additional to assessment, the firm assisted in creating mold remediation protocols and reviewed reconstruction documents.

Pre‐turnover evaluation of a 400-room hotel located on a mid‐Atlantic state US Army base

Performed a pre‐turnover evaluation of the building envelope and HVAC systems with a focus on mold and moisture issues.

This 4‐story brick and pre‐cast concrete design‐built hotel building had experienced construction delays and water intrusion problems. An evaluation was also performed concerning the building envelope including destructive testing.
Sam Gibbons Federal Courthouse – Tampa, FL.

Performed water spray and destructive testing

This 17‐story courthouse was completed in 1997 and had experienced water leaks through the building wall system since occupancy. Provided services included water spray and destructive testing of various wall system components, including aluminum and glass curtain wall and pre‐cast concrete panels.

5‐star Island resort – Maldives

Investigated water damage
This 5‐star island resort in the Maldives suffered water damage due to the December, 2004 tsunami. The firm investigated damages, including physical damage to the structure and mold issues. A report was also provided that discussed repair and remediation methodologies.

Five Fire Stations, Cherokee County – Canton GA

Provided evacuation and litigation support for a claim of HVAC and building envelope deficiencies by occupants.
